August 2001 -- "Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man." - 2 Corinthians 7:2

Here is a partial response to Stan Johnson's letter. I will not go into Stan's letter in too much depth, because it does not deserve it. I will, however, send a few emails which target the very heart of what is wrong with Stan Johnson and the Prophecy Club. First, it is necessary that we look at Stan Johnson, and take a peek inside his head. This is the man who is charging people for the "gifts" - so let us take a look at his understanding of scripture.

The Apostle Paul: "For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

Stan: "I don't smoke cigars, cigarettes or tobacco of any kind. I don't drink, cuss, swear or tell dirty jokes. I am a licensed and ordained minister of the LORD. I don't claim to be a renegade. I claim to be a full-time servant of the Lord. I preach each Sunday morning at the Spirit of Prophecy Church when I am not on the road doing Crusades. I don't get frustrated with women drivers or left-handed golfers. I have been put through God's pride wringer over the last eighteen months. God has wrung out most of the pride, self-centeredness, ego and salesmanship. He has put in more of the minister and much more of the fruits of the Spirit. I don't say this in pride, I say this because it had to happen for me to do minister in the Power of Jesus Crusades. Bunker, I do think there are some things you need to turn over to Jesus because, "you don't have them out of the way," until they are removed from your flesh and broken in the spirit. You have to first get the victory in the spirit before you get the victory in the flesh. By your admission of guilt, says you don't have victory over them yet."

I am glad that Stan Johnson has gotten his flesh to act right. That is a tremendous feat for him. My question, "How's that workin' out for ya?" It is too bad that the Apostle Paul was born 2000 years too late for him to sit under the self-appointed "Apostle" Stan Johnson. 'Ol Peter, James and John never did get it quite worked out as well as Stan Johnson.

Now let us look at his quote more closely. A conversation with Stan Johnson of the Prophecy Club (registered trademark here):

SJ - "I don't smoke cigars, cigarettes or tobacco of any kind."

MB - No, but it is what comes OUT of you that defiles you. Self righteousness is a pit out of which you can not climb.

SJ - "I don't drink, cuss, swear or tell dirty jokes."

MB - Do you ever yell at waiters, or demean your helpers? We'll address THAT one in a moment. If you have done all of these things, it would be good that you now go and sell all you have and give it to the poor.

SJ - "I am a licensed and ordained minister of the LORD."

MB - REALLY? One only needs a license to do that which he has no right to otherwise do. Who "licensed" the Apostle Paul? Who "licensed" Jesus? What organization licensed you? I will flatly claim that whoever "licensed" you is your god. You are the servant of who licensed you. Repent of that harlotry and cast off your license or you will surely be known as the servant of "another god". Who is it that "ordained" you? God alone ordains His servants. Religion is your downfall.

SJ - "I don't claim to be a renegade."

MB - Because you are not one. You are a rebel. You are in rebellion against God. A renegade is one who is outside the social order of the day. The Pharisees were the entrenched religious order of Jesus' day. Jesus was a Renegade. The Pharisees were in rebellion against God. You are part of the entrenched religious order of harlot priests. You are in rebellion, and I and the Lord Jesus Christ stand against you. Repent.

SJ - "I claim to be a full-time servant of the Lord. I preach each Sunday morning at the Spirit of Prophecy Church when I am not on the road doing Crusades."

MB - We shall see which "lord" you serve. You and a million other harlot preachers preach each sunday. It is not that you preach, or when you preach that will undo you. It is WHAT you preach. Rail on you slanderer, you will be judged by your own words.

SJ - "I don't get frustrated with women drivers or left-handed golfers. I have been put through God's pride wringer over the last eighteen months. God has wrung out most of the pride, self-centeredness, ego and salesmanship."

MB - Really! This is the funniest one yet. After my first tour with the Prophecy Club (and thousands of people have heard this story), many people asked me "what do you think of Stan Johnson?". As much as it is possible, I do not think of Stan Johnson. But I will tell you this, I have no respect for anyone who berates working men and women. On three occasions I was with Stan Johnson while he worked over a waiter or waitress. I used to wait tables, I know what it is like.

FLASHBACK: We were in a steakhouse one night (Stan was paying, I don't usually get to eat in steakhouses). The waiter came back for the third time to get our order, but Stan was in a long story about something or other. The waiter stood there for about 3 minutes (the restaurant was slammed busy). After he realized that Stan was not going to stop talking to order, he politely excused himself by saying "I'll come back in awhile". Stan lost it. When the waiter came back, Stan said, "Don't you EVER interrupt me while I'm talking!". That was the first of at least 3 such occasions. They make my stomach turn.

One day we were eating dinner at a Denny's Restaurant with Stan and some of his employees. As we were leaving the restaurant, Stan saw that one of his young employees (probably about 17 years old) had two stickers on his back windshield of red dragons. Stan said, "Whose car is this!". The boy said that it was his. Stan began to berate him in front of me and the other employees. Stan said, "Don't you know that ALL symbols mean things? By having those symbols on your car, you are letting demons RIGHT INTO YOUR CAR?"

I laughed under my breath, but Stan heard me. He turned to me and said, "What?". I said, "Stan, isn't that your brand new white mustang over there?" Stan shrugged. I said, "don't you know the anti-christ rides a white horse?"

SJ - "He has put in more of the minister and much more of the fruits of the Spirit. I don't say this in pride, I say this because it had to happen for me to do minister in the Power of Jesus Crusades."

MB - As a "minister", then surely you know that Galatians 5 does not speak of "fruits" but it speaks of "fruit" SINGULAR. "But the FRUIT of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

There are no FRUITS of the Spirit. There is only FRUIT. Are you a ruler of the people and you do not know these things? You false preachers have been lording this one over the brethren for a millennia. All of those items are FRUIT of the Spirit, and you can quit lying about what they are. You think if you are nice to someone every once in awhile, that that is a "fruit". But quite often Jesus was not "nice" to people. He insulted the Pharisees "vipers, white-washed sepulchres you are of your father the devil". You think you can put on a painted on smile and wear your hair just right and that is some kind of "fruit". Jesus ALWAYS displayed fruit. Even when he took a braided whip and ran profiteers and merchandisers JUST LIKE YOU out of the temple. THAT is fruit. He certainly never berated the help.

SJ - "Bunker, I do think there are some things you need to turn over to Jesus because, "you don't have them out of the way," until they are removed from your flesh and broken in the spirit. You have to first get the victory in the spirit before you get the victory in the flesh. By your admission of guilt, says you don't have victory over them yet."

MB - My "fruit" is on display wherever I go. I stand open before the people for what I teach and for how I behave myself in regards to God's people. I am not a sole-proprietorship, I am a bondslave. Keep on hiding behind that corporate veil, your sin will find you out.

Let us now look at how this "teacher" understands scripture:

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."

In my letter, I said this about this scripture in 1st Corinthians:

MB - "It would be wise that the leaders of these heretical movements give 1st Corinthians a close read. It specifically lists the punishment for teachers who defile the Temple."

SJ - "This is the only scripture in 1 Corinthians that has the word defile in it. The scripture is discussing our body being the temple of the Holy Spirit. What are you talking about here? Are you misunderstanding this verse?"

Let us see who is misunderstanding this verse, and who is taught of the Holy Spirit.

In 1st Corinthians, Paul is writing to the CHURCH IN CORINTH because they have divisions among them. Many of these divisions have come because of other Apostles who have travelled to and taught in Corinth. Specifically, Paul is speaking of the fact that Peter and Apollos had both been to Corinth. Now, these immature Christians were saying, "I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ". The whole first 4 chapters of 1st Corinthians is a reproof and correction of TEACHERS, NOT PEOPLE. Let us look:

Apollos was an Alexandrian Jew, a great Greek thinker, a philosopher - the Greeks in Corinth LOVED Apollos. He is WISDOM to them. Cephas (Peter) is a Jew from the Holy Land. The Jews in Corinth LOVE Peter, he is the emodiment of spiritual POWER. The Greeks love words and philosophy, the Jews seek a sign. Paul begins to reprove Peter and Apollos (something Stan Johnson refuses to receive) for how they have builded on his foundation.

Paul says that perhaps, Peter and Apollos have given you Corinthians meat when you are not ready for it. For you are still carnal:

"For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?"

So Paul pauses to explain how the CHURCH is to function. Pay close attention here, I will cover every verse IN CONTEXT in this section, because the lies taught by Stan Johnson and other harlot preachers will be exposed:

Paul: "Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Now, let's stop here. WHO IS PAUL SPEAKING TO? - The CHURCH in Corinth. What does he say to them? YE ARE GOD's BUILDING! The ecclesia is a building. They are what Paul is building. Paul is a wise masterbuilder, he has laid the foundation in Corinth, and now - another has builded thereon. They should watch out how they build on Paul's foundation!

Paul - "Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

Paul has not changed analogies. Ye (the church) are still the building. This verse has been used to cause guilt and pain in Christians for centuries. Preachers use this verse to throw burdens on the backs of God's people. But who is this verse warning? Who was Paul just warning? PREACHERS AND TEACHERS. You teachers, all of your work on God's building (the body of Christ) will be tried by fire! Who is going to be tried by fire? Not the "works" of the Christian, The Christian HIMSELF will be tried by fire. This is a threat to the preachers NOT the laymen! Every teachers work will be made manifest! If a teachers work abides, he will receive a reward, if his work is burned up (PEOPLE!) then he shall suffer loss of reward, but he himself will be saved so as by fire. Now this only applies to teachers that are really Christians. God has another warning for those charlatans and liars who usurp God's authority. Now we come to the scripture that Stan Johnson doesn't have a clue about:

"Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."

Has Paul changed analogies? NO! These are subsequent scriptures. He is still warning teachers and the CHURCH (called-out body of believers) are still the TEMPLE!

It is not until Chapter 6 that Paul ever starts referring to the Human Body as the temple. But these scriptures are clear. Let's do a quick run-through:
Christ: Foundation,
Paul: Masterbuilder,
Church: Building/Temple,
Apollos and Peter: Builders,
Individual People: Stones in the Temple.

Now why have religious leaders and profiteers spent a millennia teaching this verse the way they do? Because they can, through guilt and threats, manipulate people into doing what THEY want them to do.

Paul doesn't get around to warning the Corinthian church about Stan Johnson until his second letter to the Corinthians:

Paul - "But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." 2 Cor. 11:12-15
